Biography

André Brasilier was born in Saumur, Anjou, France. His parents were also painters, and at an early age he showed a natural inclination for painting. At 23, Brasilier received the Grand Prix de Rome. This was his first entry into the Paris artistic life, and he participated in many exhibitions in France as well as abroad.

Brasilier spent more than half a century creating canvases that are a blend of abstraction and expressionism. His works often feature themes and motifs including horses, nature, music, and women. He was recently the subject of a retrospective exhibition at Russia’s renowned Hermitage Museum in St. Petersburg.
